We are excited to announce the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Geobiology Symposium!
The symposium will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Johns Hopkins University. We welcome attendees from any career stage and invite submission for presentations (oral or poster) on geobiology-related topics including: paleobiology, geology, geomicrobiology, geochemistry, sedimentology, ecology, oceanography, climate science, planetary science and evolutionary biology.
The goal of the annual Mid-Atlantic Geobiology Symposium, initiated in 1990, is to support regional interactions and collaborations to expand understanding of geobiological processes across spatial and temporal scales and at a range of environmental conditions. This yearly event has been hosted by members of various institutions in the Mid-Atlantic (e.g., University of Delaware, John Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers University, Smithsonian Institution, and U.S. Geological Survey, among others) acting as rotating symposium partners. Ultimately, we hope to bring together researchers of various career stages at a range of institutions (e.g., primarily undergraduate institutions, state and private R1 Universities, and federal research entities) in the region.
This year we will invite a speaker from the local geobiology community and we would like your help selecting this speaker. You are welcome to self-nominate or to nominate a colleague. You will see an option to nominate an invited speaker on our registration form. Please submit the registration form by January 31, 2025 for full consideration of your nomination.
The symposium is free of charge thanks to our sponsors the Agouron Institute and the Ernst Cloos Fund managed by the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. We are also offering travel grants (between $25-$200) to assist with travel costs. If multiple people are traveling from the same institution, we encourage you to travel together and submit a single travel grant request.
We hope to see you there!
